Terminology from Readings:

transmediation – responding to cultural text using multiple sign systems (more then 2)
multiple sign systems – different ways to respond to medias (dance, music, text, numbers, technology…..)
electronic symbol making – use of digital technologies to convey meaning
semiotics – study of multiple sign systems
critical literacies – examine something in the context of what is represented and not represented (more democratic); Qui Bono – who benefits? Example: reading an editorial
media literacy – p. 23 in book; aligned with critical literacy perspectives
multiliteracies – music, words, color; things you can read that are not necessarily text (actually reading); anything that inspires thinking; can be reading more then one thing at a time (picture and text; culture and text…)
