Open University in UK is having faculty create learning objects (similar in concept to modules but she didn't like that term) so when designing tech-integrated instruction, everyone does not have to start from scratch, there is a wide collection of resources that people can use and draw from, as well as contribute to
like bionical legos, all pieces (learning objects) are not infinitely reusable for
any context
- are resusable in a particular context
H806 project in UK
biggest impact of learning object approach was on course design, enabling
- fast agreement of temporary structure
- easily relocatiable parts
- encouraged a lot of creativity and risk
parent courses don't like this H806 / learning objects
- new courses and new faculty who don't have prior experiences were more open/receptive
to this instructional model
Are able to create just in time learning objects for courses
are working with academic partners, technologies not previously used, used many non-DL, non-education consultants / partners
