Meeting with Grant evaluator

In all evaluations, Carla always tries to use a control group and an experimental group with quantitative measures
- esp with NSF grants
- need to have a high level of quantitative data
Uses other instruments from other places
- learning styles
- self esteem
- idea of intimidation
- ISTE standards
Usually creates pre-tests and post-tests based on the applicable standards, to show growth and learning
Need to be able to show that the data you want to collect is realistic / doable
- reader of the grant needs to be able to see that
Need to use the correct statistical terminology
- give examples of the instruments you are going to use
Robert Nelson: grant evaluator
- it is amazing to see the growth of the experimental as well as the control group
Carla's issue with standardized tests:
- don't look at any of the affective issues
- just look at cognative performance
