Thoughts to Ponder Before Beginning a multimedia Project
by Julie (Chapter 3)

- Be yourself
- Expect problems: they will happen!
- Learn a little at a time: start small, discover, play with your program, that makes it easier
- start small: start with small stuff and then go to the big stuff, with software too
- it is how your
- Simple is elegant (can have too much eye candy)
- The designer is the learner (when you develop something you learn a lot more)

Planning
- 3 steps to the planning process with multimedia projects
- preproduction, production, and postproduction

Preproduction
- state your purpose (like a lesson plan)
- why is it being produced, what might someone be expected to learn
- your genre

MY THOUGHT: WE NEED TO REFERENCE AND LEARN ABOUT THE TECHNOLOGY TEKS

Media and materials
- can go from a pencil to the latest Internet software
- what is available, what do you need?
- do you have a budget
- how will you present your program?

Content
- what will it be about?
- this is a critical step
- you have to know what you are going to talk about
- need to be flexible, this can change
- Storyboard: this tells a story
-- have a beginning, middle and an end-- remember simple is ok
-- sometimes from a script

Julie used inspiration to plan her presentation for tonight

Production
- items needed to produce the product
-- props, costumes, equipment, tools, actors, studios, location

Postproduction
- tools and resources needed to complete the project
- editing programs, special effects, sound
- releasing formats
- is someone going to judge it

Fair Use Guidelines
- used to be use 10% of something for educational purposes
- allows for limited use of copyrighted materials
- there are 4 factors
1- purpose and character
2- nature of work
3- amount and substantiality of portion used
4- effect of the use upon the potential market

Most people will let you use their materials for educational use if you ask

MY THOUGHT: REMEMBER THAT EDUCATIONAL FAIR USE DOES NOT REQUIRE PERMISSION, HOWEVER
